Bandipur is something that our own Karnataka has to offer in competition to Masinagudi. Yes, Bandipur is still worth that occasional visit to relax and calm ur nerves from all the stress.
Situated about 90kms from Mysore, bandipur is a must visit location for weekend revelers and wildlife enthusiasts. The drive is excellent with neatly tarred roads. Do be on the lookout for a deviation to kerala as you near bandipur and ensure that you are on the rite track.
As you approach the jungle one can see the change in temperature and stray sightings of spotted deers and if your lucky a heard of elephants grazing by the highway.
There are a few resorts just before the Bandipur jungle and the government owned guest houses inside the forest. There are also a couple of resorts about 3 – 4kms inside the forest connected by mud roads. These roads are not safe after dark unless accompanied by a trained guide.
During your stay at Bandipur, one must visit the jungle safari early in the morning or late evenings as animal sightings are more during these timings. A trip to this exotic location will cost you anywhere between 1500Rs to 4000Rs (per head) based on the type of accommodation chosen.
